Best Editor’s Choice Virtual Mailboxes
Over the past few years, the topic of virtual mailboxes has become even more relevant. Many people in the U.S. and other countries around the world have started working remotely. Also, after the pandemic has subsided, people have started to travel again and move to other countries. I think choosing the best one is each individual’s decision. Therefore, I have prepared a selection of virtual mailbox providers for different purposes.
- The Best Virtual Mailbox Service of All – PostScan Mail
- Best Virtual Bussiness Address – Anytime Mailbox
- Best Real Business Solution – Earth Class Mail
- High Level of Security – Earth Class Mail
- Choice of Services for Сlients – PostScan Mail
- Best Travel Solution – Traveling Mailbox
- Cheapest & Value – Anytime Mailbox
- Best Customer Support – PostScan Mail
Top Digital Mailbox Rating
1. PostScan Mail: $15-$30/month
I would say that PostScan Mail is the best digital mailbox service for those living in the U.S, or if you need a mailbox in the U.S. The service allows you to choose locations in the largest U.S. states and Canada, but outside of North America, the selection of countries is very limited (only 14 countries).
All the mailbox centers are owned by PostScan Mail, so regardless of the location you choose, you’ll get the same level of service and fixed rates. I also added points to the ranking for flexibility in pricing. Previously, PostScan Mail rates started at $15 per month, but apparently in competing for customers, the company lowered the minimum rate to $10, just like their main competitors, iPostal1 and Anytime Mailbox.
I also can’t help but name a major downside. The basic rate doesn’t include the Open & Scan options, which means you’ll have to pay for each scan separately or order the more expensive rate at once for $20.
Locations in the USA: California, New York, Colorado, Pennsylvania (Philadelphia, Pittsburgh), Florida (Miami), Michigan (Detroit), and more than 30 other states.
Locations Worldwide: Czech Republic, Switzerland
- Pros: High level of security; Free storage for 30 days; Locally and Internationally Mail Forwarding
- Cons: Not the most budget-friendly solution; No check deposit service
- Summary: Online mail service is suitable for regular users, self-employed and small businesses.
2. Traveling Mailbox: $15-$159/month
I think Traveling Mailbox is the best solution for travelers, expats, telecommuters and digital nomads. The service combines not only the functionality of the virtual mailbox itself, but also other options you need to work remotely. These include integration with Evernote, Bill.com and Dropbox, check deposit, scanned text recognition and others.
I know from experience that there can be a lot of emails from partners, services, etc. in remote work mode. That is why it is important that Traveling Mailbox even on the basic tariff offers quite a large number of additional options (3 recipients, 35 page scans, unlimited cloud storage).
Locations in the USA: California, Georgia, Colorado, Massachusetts, Nevada, and 30 other states
- Pros: Many useful integrations with various service; Parcel and Mail Forwarding; Different types of support (phone, email, chat); It is possible to make several users have access; The basic plan includes 35 free scans
- Cons: Limited number of locations; Basic rate plans are more expensive than the major competitors
- Summary: The best online mail service when traveling. Is extremely popular with travelers, digital nomads, expats, RVers, business travelers, etc.
3. Anytime Mailbox: $4.98-$49.99/month
The reason I put Anytime Mailbox on the 3rd place in my rating is because the service is as widespread as possible not only in the US but also in other countries around the world. The number of international locations, it is definitely the leader among all competitors (30+ countries). I have a very positive experience with Anytime Mailbox myself.
Anytime Mailbox probably loses to other services in terms of solving some specific professional tasks, but it does a great job with basic needs of its users. That’s why I can definitely recommend Anytime Mailbox as the best virtual mailbox service for mass customers.
It is especially worth noting the low prices of the provider’s services – the cost of the basic tariff starts at $5 and in most cases it will be around $10, but this is still much lower than the main competitors. In addition, the basic rates ALREADY include necessary options like Open & Scan, unlike PostScan Mail and iPostal1. Although it’s worth noting that rates may be higher in some locations.
The main disadvantage is the lack of your own mailbox centers. All local Anitime Mailbox locations work on a partnership basis, so the quality and speed of services may vary significantly depending on the chosen location.
Locations in the USA: California (San Francisco, Los Angeles), New York, Texas (Houston), Washington, New Jersey, Phoenix, Florida (Miami), and more than 40 other states
Locations Worldwide: Canada, Mexico, Australia, United Kingdom, and more than 30 other countries
- Pros: Many locations around the world; Handy Mobile App; Flexible tariff plans; Advantageous tariffs and additional options
- Cons: Sometimes tech support takes a long time to reply to emails; No centralized system, prices in different locations may vary
- Summary: The best solution of all in our opinion. It has all the basic options needed for everyday use by regular users.
4. iPostal1: $9.99-$39.99/month
iPostal1 leads all of the virtual mailbox providers I compare in my review with the number of locations (2400+). I also often see it ranked #1 by other bloggers in their reviews. Given these parameters, I have placed iPostal1 in 4rd place in my rating.
I am completely satisfied with the quality of iPostal1’s services, but it’s all hindered by the unprofitable prime rate. For $10 a month you can get up to 30 emails, but the Open & Scan option will cost an additional $2.25 for EVERY email. I need this option the most as I get a lot of emails, as do most users, so it works out too expensive for me.
Locations in the USA: California, New York, Texas, Indiana, Minnesota, Delaware, and more than 40 other states
Locations Worldwide: Canada, UK, China, Spain, Switzerland, Singapore, Italy
- Pros: Low price plans (from $9.99); Great choice of locations; Possibility to have several locations within one account
- Cons: More suitable for individuals than for businesses

What is a Virtual Mailbox?
A digital mailbox is a service that receives all your snail mail and packages for you. It gives you an actual physical address, that can be used as your permanent address for sending all your mail and parcels. Just imagine if you could manage your snail mail as easily as your email. A virtual post office box will give you access to your mail from any computer, tablet, or phone at any time from anywhere in the world.
A digital mailbox is an ideal solution for small businesses and start-ups as it increases customer trust whilst preserving the privacy of your home address with a real and permanent local address. Especially for the readers of my blog, I prepared a cool infographic about virtual mailboxes.
- You’ll have an actual physical address and with most services you can pick the address out of the number of different addresses.
- When your mail arrives, the app automatically scans the front of the envelop or package. You then receive a notification on your phone or computer for you to decide the next steps.
- Some Mail Companies offer to open the mail and scan it for you to view online.
- You can request to shred, dispose or recycle your mail.
- Package storage and shipping.
- Some services offer check depositing
- Signature upon delivery
How to Choose the Best Virtual Mailbox?
To choose the best virtual mailbox service, you need to decide what features you need, and what you expect from a digital mailbox. We did a big study in the field of virtual mailroom management and we still continue our work. We check websites of our competitors daily, study reviews of various bloggers as well as independent user feedback. That’s why we suggest you to follow our advice and choose the right provider.
Determine your needs and use our convenient comparative table along with our detailed reviews of each provider in the relevant section of our website. This table is handy easy to understand. We have compared 4 main factors: Price, Number of locations, Extra features, and Available Mobile Apps.
Price is always one of the most important factors. It can vary widely and usually depends on the membership plan and features you wish to include in your online postal provider such as mail forwarding, open&scan, check deposits, etc. Try to figure how much incoming mail you will have and what features you need. After that, compare prices considering extra features and extra fees in case you will exceed your basic plan.
How to Get It?
To get started you need to choose the virtual mailbox service you want to work with, select the mailing address they provide or the P.O. box, and choose a plan. After that submit a completed USPS 1583 form and notarize your documents. This action is required to create a virtual mailbox in any of the services located in the United States. You can notarize it online (like notarize.com) or at the local office.
What is Mail Forwarding?
Mail Forwarding (MF) and virtual mailboxes are very similar. However, the mail forwarding providers only offer to receive your mail and parcels and forward them to the requested address. This makes it to be one of the fastest ways to have your mail and parcels shipped to you anywhere in the world via any courier (USPS, UPS, etc.). You can forward your mail to any address in the US or worldwide.
Calculate how many mails you need to send per month, compare Mail Forwarding and Virtual Mailbox service plans and additional fees, and choose the right solution!
Digital mailbox plans are usually more cost-effective compared to MF especially if you don’t need to receive the mail in a physical form in another location. All your letters will be immediately available online via any device, from anywhere in the world.
Virtual Mail Forwarding Service is getting more and more popular among expats. If you are living abroad, you should consider this service. With MF you will be able to receive all your important mail and packages anywhere in the world. It’s not always possible to rely on friends and family all the time. It can become inconvenient, or they may simply forget to forward an important mail to you.
MF makes it easier to become a digital nomad, because it solves one of the main problems they face of managing their mail. Digital Mailing Service is also very helpful for those freelancers who are based in multiple locations.
Travelers & RVers
If you are always traveling, dealing with U.S. postal mail can be an issue. MF solves this problem easily. In 2021 you no longer need to ask your relatives to forward your mail. If you set up a virtual mailing address, you’ll even be able to see your letters online within a few hours by using an open&scan feature.
Some businesses receive their postal mail in different locations. Using MF allows them to forward it to their central location to manage it more easily. Also, if you sign up for a digital mailbox account you will be provided with a real street address which will preserve your privacy by not exposing your home address.
In 2021, signing up for virtual mailbox is a perfect solution for receiving your mail, especially if you are an expat, digital nomad, business owner, or a traveler and even if you aren’t you should consider it anyway! Mail Forwarding is both very helpful these days and it’s super easy to use.

This claim is absolute nonsense:
“Cheapest & Value – Anytime Mailbox”
They don’t say which location charges $4.98/m. You’re unlikely to find that price browsing through their locations. Very few locations are under $9.99/m. Anytime Mailbox is actually the most expensive services to receive mail — assuming you receive any mail. The problem with your claim is it assumes the subscriber receives zero mail. What’s the point? Their allowance is PER PAGE (not per envelope) and they charge charge a high price PER PAGE.
When I took my own stats of mail received for 1 year and the page counts into account, Anytime Mailbox was the *most expensive* of all the services you mention ($584.50/year). And that’s not heavy volume.. it’s an average of 14 envelopes/month (30-200 pages/month depending on the month).
(btw, i’m submitting a bogus address so no need for reply.)
We are not looking at individual cases. That’s what we write, that you have to count the volume of specific services in each case. This is the only way to choose the best virtual mailbox provider for you. Many people receive 1-2-3 letters per month, and sometimes 1 letter per 2-3 months. At the same time you have to pay for a subscription to a virtual mailbox all the time! If you need more services, Anytime Mailbox offers an advanced plan instead of the basic one.
